Location: Near Durgam Cheruvu Metro Station

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist with expertise in Charge Entry and Payment Posting to join our dynamic team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the billing process runs smoothly, from entering charges for medical services to posting payments accurately. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in medical billing, payment reconciliation, and knowledge of insurance regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Charge Entry

  • Accurately enter charges for medical services into the billing system, ensuring services are properly billed.
  • Verify patient insurance details, service codes, and necessary modifiers for correct billing.
  • Ensure charges align with the CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
  • Complete charge entries in a timely manner to facilitate smooth claim submissions.
  • Review clinical documentation to ensure all services are accurately billed.
  • Monitor for errors or missing information in charge entries and correct them promptly.
  • Collaborate with medical teams to ensure accurate entries, especially for complex procedures.

Payment Posting

  • Post payments from insurance companies, patients, or third-party payers to appropriate accounts.
  • Process EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and ERAs (Electronic Remittance Advice) from insurance companies, ensuring payments are applied correctly.
  • Resolve payment discrepancies by addressing underpayments, overpayments, or denials.
  • Investigate and manage claim denials or payment issues, including re-billing and appeal submissions.
  • Record adjustments, write-offs, or refunds and document the reasons for these actions.
  • Monitor accounts receivable for overdue payments and follow up accordingly.

Billing and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all charges, payments, adjustments, and correspondence.
  • Generate regular reports on charge entries, payment posting, and payment statuses to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the collections team for timely resolution of denied claims and outstanding balances.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA, in charge entry and payment posting processes.
  • Assist with internal audits and reviews related to charge entry and payment posting practices.

Customer Support (Internal and External)

  • Collaborate with internal teams (coding, claims, collections) to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Provide support to patients and insurance providers regarding bills, payments, or claim status.
  • Communicate effectively with external parties to resolve payment issues or discrepancies.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on charge entry and payment posting.
  • Proven experience with insurance claims, EOBs, ERAs, and payment processing.
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.

Skills

  • Strong data entry skills, with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare payment processes, including insurance and patient payments.
  • Experience with EMR and billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, NextGen).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, especially with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare teams.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of payer-specific billing rules and payment posting procedures.
  • Experience with denial management and claim resubmissions.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory healthcare requirements.
